Unfortuantely I just posted my qustion under someone else's question. I do apologise as it shouldn't have gone there, so I'll write it here under a new thread.
I started my PT (progesterone therapy) 2 weeks ago after finding this site and all its resources. I'm convinced it's been the missing piece to my healing my health puzzle.
I started on Ona's Natural 3% cream- 200mg daily as per the suggestion on the site.
The first week was wonderful; I had relief of many of my symptoms I had been experiencing for 10 years. Sleep was deeper and throughout the night, chronic fatigue lifted, I had energy and felt happy and lighthearted for the first time in years; Anger, irritability and moodiness all lifted. Hot flashes at night and waking up at 3 am to wee was gone. Wonderful.
The second week I have started to see some symptoms return: Hairloss has increased and falling out 4 times more than it was (that was a symptom I was already quite upset with) I have more edema and some blaoting again (it went away in the first week) Sleep has become less restful and disrupted again. Listlessness and fatigue have returned. Anger, irritability and depressive states return if I do not apply cream every 5/6 hours.
My question is: Are the return of the symptoms in the second week of progestrone therapy a cause to increase the amount of cream I am currently using?
I am waiting for another bottle of cream to arrive as I have run out after 2 weeks of consistent application (200mg a day of 3% cream)
I may have a cycle, as this can be seen as a break, as I don't know how many days I will have to wait until the cream arrives again to start applying progesterone again.
For some context: I have had chronic health issues for the last 10 years due to excessive exercise, caloric restriction and body dysmorphia. I was probably estrogen dominant most of my life - I have been on birth control since I was 16 till 26 - and trying to fix estrogen dom symptoms it with food restriction and exercise, and wondering why I couldn't lose weight or get lean. It drove me to implement these continually negative impact lifestyle choices.
My cycle has been erratic/irregular/absent these last 5 years but was never consistent anyway. My health and mental/emotional state has declined over hte last 15 from orthorexia.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year by an independent endocrinologist, so I started taking thyroid and improving my nutrition and being metabolically supportive (pro metabolic/bio energetic approach)
I don't have any hormone test results to share before starting progesterone therapy for myself. I have most of the estrogen-dominant symptoms.
The supplements I take are: b1, high-quality b complex, glycine, taurine, theanine, Thyroid, magnesium, bioavailable calcium.
Thank you for putting this website together. The information is invaluable.
