Menopause and Varicose Veins

Hi there Yes you can use progesterone safely. I don't think any woman should be given HRT. We do have a page on Hot Flushes you could look through. I have found about 400mg/day is needed to stop them. The progesterone can be applied in the vagina too, it's a potent anti-inflammatory, and helps with dryness. Facial hair is caused by excess testosterone, and often goes hand in hand with Hair Loss. Testosterone increases during Peri-menopause and Menopause, progesterone does suppress this, as well as excess oestrogen. If you do use progesterone, please make sure it's sufficient, as it can lead to Oestrogen Dominance. I recommend 100-200mg/day dependant on symptoms, but feel you will need 400mg/day if the hot flushes are bad. Take care Wray

how to apply vaginally
by: Anonymous

Hi Wray,
Could you tell me how this gets applied vaginally? Is it applied on the outside or does it go inside. I know this might sound stupid but just don't know how I would go about this. I also heard it would be best to apply vaginally especially if overweight. Is this true?

how to apply vaginally
by: Wray

Hi there A finger is the quickest and easiest, although it doesn't reach very high, alternatively a syringe. Although this does require sterilising each time you use it. I've never heard it's best to use vaginally if being overweight, I can see no reason to it. Unless the thinking behind it is the progesterone will lodge in fatty tissue and won't be very effective. The fatty tissue is necessary for progesterone, it is lipophilic. There's more info on our page about Progesterone Misconceptions. We do have more general info on our page How to use progesterone cream. Take care Wray

Decatur vein clinic. "Women taking progesterone have a greater risk of developing varicose or spider veins." There were many other web sites that stated the same thing.
