Dosing question

Hello,
I cant seem to find dosing directions on the site or with the NATPRO bottle. How does 200 mg equate to a teaspoon? I thought I had figured it out, but right now I am using one teaspoon twice a day and the Natpro container is lasting about 2 weeks. So I am thinking I am using too much? thanks for your help.

Dosing question
by: Wray

Hi there We do have info at the bottom of our page How to use progesterone cream. I'm not sure where you live, but these charts are very accurate ......
Milliliters to UK Teaspoons table
Milliliters to US Teaspoons table
A UK tsp is a different size to a US tsp, and both are different to the metric tsp which equals 5ml. We use the metric system as all medical and scientific disciplines use it. Progesterone is usually measured in mg, which are also metric. Natpro contains 33.3mg in 1ml of cream. So 1 tube with 60ml cream, containing 2000mg progesterone, has 12 metric teaspoons, each of which contains 166.6mg progesterone. So using 1tsp per day the tube would last 12 days. Using 2tsp per day it would last 6 days. You must have a very small 'teaspoon', if you say your tube is lasting about 14 days. This works out to about 143mg/day, or 71.5mg for each spoon. It must be about 2ml in size and not 5ml. I'm not sure what your symptoms are so can't advise if you're using too much or too little. Some women need less than 143mg/day, but some need far more. Going from 400mg/day up to and over 1000mg/day, see here, here, here and here. Take care Wray

Dosing Question
by: Joy

Hi there

Please see How to use Progesterone Cream. Read the entire page but if you scroll right down you will come to a chart which will help you. A standard metric teaspoon is 5ml, 200mg/6ml is slightly more than a 5ml teaspoon.

Hope this helps.

thank you for the dosing info

Thank you Wray and Joy for the information. I am in the US so I'm using a US teaspoon, but since I was afraid I was using too much I was really spreading the cream thin inside the teaspoon :-) I think that is why the tube lasted 2 weeks. Now I see that the tube should last about 10 days, so I wasn't using too much. Wray, based on a previous email about one month ago, you had recommended to me to use 200mg for my symptoms, so I will use 1 and 1/5 US teaspoons two times a day, that should get me close to the 200mg recommendation. Thanks again!

thank you for the dosing info

Hi there Glad the info helped. A teaspoon amount, irrespective of the size of the teaspoon, i.e. metric, US or UK, will always be a full teaspoon. If you fill it with water to the lip you'll see what I mean. 1 US teaspoon equals 1 1⁄64US tsp. You'll never measure out 1/64th! So if the teaspoon full is rounded, you'll be getting enough for the day. i.e. you need 6ml for 200mg. You won't need 2 US teaspoons.
