Bio identical hormones and massive weight gain

My doctor insists that it is the progesterone which I am taking which has gained me all this weight, I feel that it's the oestrogen and testosterone!!

Please help, can I just use my progesterone but internally instead of orally?

Hi Joanna

Both you and your doctor are correct. Oral progesterone is not the best delivery method as 96% gets destroyed by the gut and liver. If not enough progesterone is used it will cause weight gain. Usually between 100-200mg progesterone cream is needed, more if symptoms are severe. Please consider using Natpro progesterone cream instead of oral.

Estrogen and testosterone will also cause weight gain.

A low vitamin D3 level reduces the benefits of progesterone, so the little progesterone that you are getting from your oral method will deliver very little progesterone, this will cause weight gain.

All drug based HRT's have a potential to cause harm, they also add to weight gain.
