Saliva Test Progesterone/Oestradiol

Hi Wray,

Living in the UK I find it difficult to get tests done by my GP. I decided to see if there was anything online and found a site where I can have a saliva test done at home through postal delivery. Am I right in saying that I must test at around day 17 of my cycle? Also good you advise as to what your would expect a normal test result to be? I'm feeling good and managing my hormones well, I've also had a vit d test done and awaiting results. I just want to be more aware of what's going on in my body if I can. Hi Monica I've heard from others that GP's are reluctant to do tests, why this should be so baffles me. Unless it has to do with the NHS. The lab we use in the UK for our Saliva Tests is Genova Diagnostics. The test should be done ±7 days after ovulation or before bleeding. I can't remember the length of your cycle, but day 17 would mean you would bleed ± day 22-24, is this correct. Otherwise work it out from the ±7 days before bleeding. We've found from the tests we run that the ratio should be 600:1 and over to feel well, you'll see this on the test page. The progesterone does get absorbed well, and the levels shoot up. I'm pleased you're doing it yourself, as often the doctors get alarmed at the high rise, and tell their patients to stop the progesterone! Delighted to hear you've had a blood test done, I wish everyone would. I have one done every 6 months or so now, last result showed a level of 230nmol/L which pleased me. Take care Wray

Thank you Wray for your reply, its very reassuring. I think the problem with getting tests done in this country is the NHS and money! I'm happy to pay but Oh just the thought - it's like wading through mud! My cycle has changed back to 28 days recently could be because I'm more balanced these days, so 7 days on from ovulation would be 2 October, gives me time to read through the info. The company I'm using is Genova Diagnostics so I'm glad it is one you would recommend.

Hi Monica It is like wading through mud, why do they make it so difficult! Interesting your cycle has changed back again, it often does revert. And I'd be very interested in hearing what Genova find out. Take care Wray
