Increased hairloss since starting progesterone cream

by Amy
(Arizona)

Wray, please help!!

I'm trying very hard to use atleast 400mg of progesterone cream everyday. I started using about 2 weeks ago, my hairloss increased when I started it and hasn't slowed much. I had a couple of nights of good sleep but now I'm waking at 3-4 am, which isn't working well for me either.
I stopped the estrogen pill from Dr about 1 week ago, and taking all the supplements that you recommend. So what's wrong??

Increased hairloss since starting progesterone cream

Hi Amy Nothing's wrong, only time, you need to persevere for much longer. In some women progesterone doesn't start working for 3 to 6 months. You went cold turkey off the oestrogen too, that would have caused adverse symptoms. One doctor I know says it takes 2 years before synthetic oestrogen leaves the body, although I don't believe it's that long. I see you read our page on Hair Loss. The supplements will also need time to help, nothing natural is a quick fix. Take a look at our Oestrogen Dominance page too. Take care Wray

A little help
by: Letitia

I also had hair loss issues, I was like a hamster on the trail, the more I worried about it and got anxious the more hair I was loosing.
My Dermotolagist recommended 5000 of biotin every day and told me to continue to take it especially in times of stress.

You should give it a try, Also for me when I stopped estrogen cold turkey, it was the worst thing I could have done my whole body started screaming at me, I was in menopause upped by 10, I honestly thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I ended up slowly tapering down the estrogen to allow my body to adjust, this was far better and I was on a low dose. .375

A lot of internal stress, not sleeping right etc depletes the body of B vitamins espcially biotin so it my help at little
