Dose confusion!

by Kelley
(Arizona)

I just started with the progesterone cream. I was tested in November of 2010 and was super low in progesterone! They put me on something for a couple month, can't remember what and In February i got pregnant with twins! I had a fabulous pregnancy.... Never felt better! Now with 18 month old twins I feel like a crazy person (and i know its not the twins) My pms is out of control, gained more weight about 4-6 after they were born than I gained during the entire pregnancy, insomnia, etc....
My question is, how much cream should I use? I purchased a 4oz jar and have been using a 1/4 tsp 2xs daily. The cream is 500mg progesterone per oz. I've been reading your suggestions on dosing and it's around 100-200mg daily.... So that would make a jar only last about 5 days max?? It would be worth it if this works for me biting feel like I'm calculating something wrong?? Also if I do need to use that much where do I put it? I've been putting it in my chest neck nod inner arms, trading off in morning and night.
Thank you,
Kelley

Dose confusion!

Hi Kelly It doesn't surprise me you felt so well while pregnant. I did too. But what occurred to you, also happened me too shortly after having my daughter, then developed into PND which lasted 4 years. You will need to use at least 200mg/day possibly more. Although you're not pregnant now, please read our page on Pregnancy, and this one here. It mentions PND. Your calculations are correct, for 200mg/day progesterone you would need to use 12ml of cream, or nearly two and half teaspoons. You are currently getting about 40mg/day. You're using a cream which is only 1.6%, not very strong. Please take a look at this one here, to compare ingredients and price, it's double the strength. The skin comprises 90-95% keratinocytes, these have ample progesterone receptors, see here. So the cream can be applied anywhere on the body. I use the cream on my face, neck and breasts every morning and night, then rub the rest wherever I feel needs it. It is wonderful for burns, for piles, dry or inflamed vagina etc. We also have more info on our page How to use progesterone cream. If you do increase the amount of progesterone please see our page on Oestrogen Dominance as this can occur. Take care Wray
