Bleeding Question

by Laura
(UK)

Hi Wray,
Thank you so much for speaking with Julienne last week.
I just had another question. I have been using 400mg for about 4 weeks and thought that I would not bleed this month as I have used it daily, until I get my levels right up. But I started to bleed on my due date so it has been 28 days as normal, still heavy and painful. Have I understood this right that I am bleeding as normal because my progesterone levels are still not high enough? The 400mg took away the added oestrogen dom symptoms I had from lower doses but I am still experiencing a lot of original oestrogen symptoms. Is it still early days? as I can't really afford to go any higher. I must be putting larger doses on as a tube is only lasting 3-4 days rather than then 5.1 days that the dosage table says.
I have just received a bottle of 3% iodine so will give that a go today? do I just put some on my skin and see how long it takes to absorb?
I have an ultrasound on the 5th Aug to check for any cysts etc after the very painful pelvic pain and fainting. And should also receive my hormone blood test results this week. Hopefully the doc has tested my pro and oest levels, so at least I can get an idea what is happening. Lastly, if I had a cyst on my one remaining ovary, would I not bleed at all. Because I have always had regular cycles (28 Days) heavy and painful. When roughly do you think I should start to feel some relief?
Sorry, that one question turned into a few!!!!!lol
Thank you so much for all your help you give to us all
Look forward to your reply
Laura

Bleeding Question

Hi Laura Firstly it is early days for the progesterone to work, and some women do continue bleeding on 400mg/day. That's the lowest level I've found to work, some need more. Secondly are you not taking those nutrients I must have told you about? The NAC, vitamin D, taurine and bioflavonoids? There's more info about these on our Menstruation page. I'm pleased it does seem to be helping some of the symptoms, with time the others should go too. Some iodine is absorbed through the skin, but it appears taking it is a better route. I'm not sure what info I gave you previously, but see here, here, here here and here. This is a good supplement as it includes tyrosine, see here. You might like to read this comment here too. Having a cyst on the ovary won't make you stop bleeding. I've found it can take 3 to 6 months before relief is felt. Although some respond quicker, others far slower. Thanks for the kind words. Take care Wray

Hi Wray,
Thanks a lot. I am taking 5000 vit d and have just emailed Julienne to see if she sells the energy formulas as having read about them I think this is the best way to get my head around all the different supplements to take! I got my blood test results back and have a high CA-125 and have got my ultrasound on Monday, which hopefully will let me know what is going on!! maybe it could be endometriosis afterall.... the dr said that my pro and oest levels are fine!!!! not convinced. Think I will ask for print out so I can try to work out the ratio. ..not too good with maths..lol Once again thank you for all your patience with the questions.

Hi Laura Pleased you're getting in touch with Jules, I know she can help with advice too. Please get the print out from your doctor, they never look at ratios. It doesn't matter how much or how little you have, it's the ratio which counts. Give them to me and I'll work it out for you. It could well be endo, let me know if it is. In which case you'll need high dose antioxidants plus the 400mg/day progesterone. Take care Wray
