Vitamin K-2

by Kim
(TN)

First let me tell you that I love this web site, and spend a great deal of time here. Thank you for all the help.

I take 200 progesterone cream daily...15000 iu D3 daily, and now I read that with high doses of d3 you really should take k-2. I'm a little concerned about the k-2 having phytoestrogens or soy.
Do you know of a good k-2 supplement.

Thank you
Kim

Vitamin K-2
by: Karenina

Hi Kim,

I was looking for vitamin K-2 only recently with the same reason as your's and you are right that it must not contain soy.

I found one which is of a natural source...liquid vitamin E, and contains: wheat germ oil and a mixed Tocopherol Complex. It has no yeast or dairy products and is formulated without the use of artificial preservatives flavours or colours.

It is produced by a company called, Solgar. It comes with a dropper too. I am very sensitive and I have not had a reaction from the first drop.

It has helped me with my sexual life too.

I hope this helps...

I made a mistake!
by: Karenina

Hi Kim,

I am so sorry I made a mistake but in actual fact it is also important to take Vitamin E with Vitamin C.

Yes, I have read this too...Vitamin K2 is needed with Vitamin D3...The last time I did some research it is only available, using the ingredient Soy. However there is a company called Kappabio who have brought out a new product called, K2VITAL™. This is the new vitamin K2 product from Kappa Bioscience, Norway. This contains the most efficient form of vitamin K2, the menaquinone-7 (MK-7)which does not contain soy but it is not available to buy as a product yet. I wrote to them just before Christmas and this was their response; 'We have recently signed a contract with a UK contract manufacturer, whose customer indeed will launch our K2 (MK-7) on the UK market, but I am afraid we are still a bit too early to support you directly. It is very much in it's early stages'.

I will keep an eye on the situation and will let you know when it is available to buy. Be careful, there are a few companies who are selling Vitamin K2 as MK-7 but in fact it is not the the same one...I hope this information helps.

Take care. Karenina

I made a mistake!
by: Wray

Hi Karenina Well you do do research! Let me know when it comes on the market. The only one I would recommend is the one Dr Cannell put together, but it comes as a combo D3, K2, zinc and boron, see here. Or the direct link to the manufacturers, see here. I've been trying to get some of the K2 to add to our vitamin D complex, but it's a horrific price! So I'm doing a rethink. Amazing, I tried to have a skype chat with Jules today, but she was off to post your Natpro! Take care Wray

Vitamin K-2
by: Wray

Hi Kim Thanks so much for the kind words about the site. I see Karenina has beaten me to it. I've found her research so sound, and have learnt a great deal from her. Pity about the Norwegian company, let's hope they bring their product on the market soon. I gave the links to Karenina for Dr Cannell's combo, you could consider that. But if you are already taking D3, you don't really want it. It seems Thorne Research have one without soy, see here. They seem fully aware of the synthetic antioxidants like BHT, saying they won't use them, but use vitamin E only as we do in our cream. They also use the medium chain triglycerides too, as we do in the Natpro. They use MK-4 rather than MK-7, for the difference between the two please see Wiki's info here. As you probably saw, I said to Karenina the cost of the K2 we can get is very high. I see it's universal as Thorne's vitamin D is only $11.50, whereas their K2 is $62.40. I'll have to reconsider! Take care Wray
