Question about Progesterone

by Cheryl
(Manhattan, KS USA)

I have not been on this site for quite some time and am truly sorry to hear of Wray's passing.

I am doing a bridge between my B.S. in Biochemistry and a BSN in Nursing. I want to work in ER/Trauma. I remember Wray telling me that you can stop a seizure with progesterone. Also I think she said if someone has brain trauma, swollen brain that progesterone can help that also???

Could someone please enlighten me on this subject?? There is always brain trauma in a trauma center.

Question about Progesterone
by: Joy

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for your kind words about Wray, she was truly a special person who has left such a gap in many of our lives, certainly mine.

I see that you started another thread about the same thing, but I will keep it simple and reply to this one only. Seizures benefit greatly from the correct use of progesterone therapy. Usually those suffering from TBI are treated in hospital and under strict supervision so you would be at the right place to treat TBI. Perhaps this video will help to explain things to you.

The Emory Paper is also excellent.

What may be of help to you is to test levels of Vitamin D3 which is a critical nutrient. Studies on TBI patients found a low level reduced the benefits of progesterone, or it barely worked. Vitamin D alone also helps TBI, but the synergy of the two is remarkable, see here...
