I Can't Stop Bleeding!

by Renee
(Germantown, TN)

I am a 51 y/o female still having periods every month--starting to become somewhat irregular in length. For example...I started seeing a tinge of blood on 2/18 and for the next 4-5 days, I did not even need a tampon or pad. It was always just on the tissue after going to the restroom. On 2/23, it became more regular and on 2/25 I had an episode of "flooding" where it soaked through tampon pad and jeans just from standing up. It seems I have a 12 hr time frame during all of my periods where this is liable to happen--and usually does. Now it is 3/1(11 days later) and I'm still bleeding. Amount is down to 2 tampons a day or less, but still bleeding. I use natural progesterone cream only--and I use about 600 mg. a day. My endocrinologist says I need the estrogen to trigger my period to stop and start a new cycle. He prescribed bio-identical hormones: estradiol, progesterone and testosterone. I don't really want to use it, but I DO want my period to start. I am VERY IRON DEFICIENT due to (sometimes) longer, but always heavier, periods and the fact that I eat really, really healthy with very little red meat. My doctor says that if I use what he prescribes on a daily basis, my periods should start tapering off in about 6 months and stop. While that sounds good and tempting to do, I am afraid of using estrogen in any form to supplement. If I am having periods, doesn't that mean that my body is making ample estrogen? Why isn't the natural progesterone cream regulating my periods better than this? What do I need to do?
Thanks!

Hi Renee 600mg/day progesterone is a very large amount, and usually stops bleeding. There is more info on our Menstruation page and a protocol of nutrients to take which do stop it. Please also see our pages on Peri-menopause and Menopause. Take care Wray

Hello Renee!
How long have you been on that 600mg a day and do you use it everyday...ignoring the cycle you are having...is it natural or does it have estrogen mimic ingredients in it? I too had the same thing as you, although, did not take anything from a doctor. If you read my story you'll see what happened to me. I would call the bleed "Niagara Falls". I would stand up and flood with clots that would come out of my pant legs. That's why I never went anywhere if I was flowing...couldn't trust my own body. Remember that testosterone is converted into estrogen in our bodies and estrogen is in almost everything we come in contact with. I was on anywhere from 400-1,000 mg a day and in the beginning used it hourly and my body was so sensitive that if I missed that hour dosage the flow would come heavier. It's estrogen that's causing you to bleed like that. I am now at three years of using Natpro everyday with no breaks. Today, because of finances, I tried to slowly cut my dosage back to 300 mg a day and sure enough if I didn't wake up this morning spotting....took my usual dosage and it has stopped...for now...until I get another phone call from children or something in the household breaks...anything to punch that stress level up..LOL. Anyway, up and down we go until we finally reach the 12 months of no flow and blow out a sign of relief, but remember if our estrogen is high in menopause now comes all those bad cancers that stem from excessive estrogen. Terrible vicious cycle. I will tell you Wray recommended all the supplements for me to take in the beginning and today I take a lot of them. I take 2-3000 mg of lysine a day (I learned from Wray a couple weeks ago that the synthetic prescription form of lysine is given to women to stop bleeding...I buy mine from Pure Bulk) along with 2-3,000 mg of NAC those both help with bleeding. Vitamin C does also. I take 6,000 mg a day of it...along with Rutin...C doesn't like to work without Rutin. I have also begun researching systematic enzymes which our bodies utilize to eliminate inflammation...I use Doctors Best Best Serrapeptase and I have noticed arthritic knots on my fingers are disappearing. However, none of this will correct it overnight but if you faithfully take the progesterone along with all the supplements Wray suggests, daily, you will begin to see positive changes. I didn't see any change for one year and to this day I still have to adjust dosages. Listen to your body it will tell you where you are lacking, you feel it, see it, smell it and then you'll be able to research what supplements you need to help heal the body. Hang in there! God Bless! RJ

Thank you!

Thank you so much RJ! I will adjust my dosage of natural progesterone cream and start on the supplements recommended. I have never heard of Rutin. What kind and where do you get it? Thanks!

Renee

Hello Renee!
Rutin is an antioxidant/flavonoid. Helps inflammation. Find alot of it in lemons, oranges, apples...the rind of these. Just helps the Vitamin C convert to a usable source in our bodies. If I could trust the growers of those fruits that the outside isn't full of pesticides and waxes, I would freeze the peels and then grind them up in the blender to a powder and take it as my Vitamin C, rutin, quercetin, hesperidin. But nowadays there's no telling what's on them. God Bless! RJ
