how to know when to increase or decrease

by jackie

Good day. I have been using Natpro for a couple of years. I am post menopausal. I was on HRT for 7 years. 2 years ago I started by replacing the progesterone HRT with Natpro. 1 year ago I successfully got myself off HRT completely by using 4 pumps twice daily of Natpro. Over the last maybe 8 months I've had various joint issues - SI joint and nerve pain. My osteopath wondered if I may need more estrogen. This last 6 months I have done a lot of detoxing from metals and I eat primarily keto in general. I seem to be having hormonal problems - with depression. How do I know if I should increase or decrease dosage? I don't want to go back on HRT - but I'm considering it as I'm not doing so well. I remember we can drop down when we are feeling pretty stable, but I've always been nervous about dropping down. Any insight would be most helpful,j

Hi Jackie

I am pleased to hear that you are now off HRT. They all have the potential to cause harm. You are still suffering from Estrogen Dominance though. Estrogen is also an excitatory, inflammatory hormone, hence the aching joints. It also causes water retention. Progesterone is a potent anti-inflammatory. Something has caused your progesterone level to drop. It could be excessive Stress which destroys progesterone levels as well as vital nutrients. Candida can also cause joint pains. You are also suffering from Inflammation which we all suffer from sadly. Your gut is not healthy. Please consider eating fermented foods to reduce the inflammation. They are the best form of probiotics, especially sauerkraut. If the gut is not healthy, neither will you be.

Some Main Reasons that could cause Progesterone levels to drop:

lack of or drop in Vitamin D3 levels
high estrogen
high testosterone
high LH
high FSH sugars of any kind
large meals
alcohol
stress
insulin resistance
high level of phytoestrogens in the diet

What is your Vitamin D3 level? It should be optimal at all times. A deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone.

Your depression indicates that your hormones are not balanced. Please consider taking some of the calming nutrients mentioned on the Anxiety page. I suggest increasing your Natpro slightly to get you back on track. Experiment with the amount used, and see what works for you. Once you feel stable again, you can reduce the cream used to a level that suits you.

I do not believe that any woman needs to take extra estrogen. There are well over 100 estrogen mimics in our Environment as it is. This will add to your estrogen dominance symptoms.

Best wishes.
