Dosing question continued

by Jennifer
(VA)

I just wrote a question about dosing, and did some more research but I still have questions.

I see that you can use teaspoons to measure, but this method is extremely unreliable because it's impossible for me to figure out from my oval-ish shaped teaspoon how much 3/5ths of a teaspoon is!! (The volume of the strangely-shaped teaspoon is not constant like it is for a cube or cylinder.) This is really turning into a headache and I hope someone can help. Is there a separate dosing syringe I can buy to screw onto the tube?? I once had acne medication that had a wonderful, easy-to-use dosing cap and that would be a GREAT solution for this cream, too! Please tell me where I can buy such a thing.

Hello,

What about teaspoon measures used in cooking/baking? I have a half teaspoon & maybe they make 1/4 teaspoons as well. This is what I was going to use if my first tube of ProGest hadn't come with a 1/4 teaspoon measure.

Hi Jennifer A normal kitchen measuring spoon is an accurate enough measure. They are normally available in supermarkets. Alternatively a medicine measuring spoon from a health or drug store would work as well. These are often in ml too. Zyliss make teaspoons in ml, see here.
Please don't be too concerned about using an accurate amount either. I've found from my own use and that of others who write in, that the amount needed can vary daily. Some women use it hourly for bad symptoms. Supplying a syringe would be impossible, because amounts vary too much. Men using from 10 to 100mg/day, women using from 100 to 600mg/day. Take care Wray

Dosing

Wray, Just received my Natpro. Two questions. 1) when to start. I had some spotting on the 7th of Sept. I don't have a normal period as I had my uterus removed, but still have ovaries and part of cervix. So what day would I start if I have this weird cycle? 2) I am starting w/200mg per day. What does that come out to.... 1/4 tsp, 1/2 tsp? I think I need to break this dose into AM and PM which would be 100MG per dose.
Thank you!

Hi Judy I'm so sorry about this late reply, I've no idea how I missed your query. As you have no uterus I suggest you use the progesterone daily. There's more info on our pages Peri-menopause and Menopause. If you want to use 200mg/day you'd need 6ml of cream, which is just over 1 tsp. We give a list of measurements at the bottom of our page How to use progesterone cream. Progesterone should always be used a minimum of twice a day, more if need be. Levels drop within 13 hrs. Take care Wray
