Am I using the cream wrong?

by Marie
(MO)

I began using the cream to battle the horrible mood swings and anxiety, etc I had with horrible PMS. It was a miracle from day 1 and it alleviated every one of my symptoms. I took it as instructed and began on day 12 of my cycle and stopped on day 26 only to have horrible mood swings and anxiety and on day 31 I still haven't had my period (which is regular). I began taking it again to battle the mood, anxiety, depression. Will I still have a period and is this ok to do?

Am I using the cream wrong?

Hi Marie

I am just a little confused as you say 'am I using the cream wrong?' then you say that you are taking it as instructed, instructions can vary per product. If you are taking oral progesterone this is not the best delivery method as so much is destroyed by the gut and liver. Creams are more effective and it can be applied anywhere on the body. If it is a cream that you are using, how much are you using?

You are suffering from estrogen dominance, please see here Progesterone can disrupt the cycle when first using it. For your symptoms you should use 200mg/6ml of the cream per day, more if symptoms of severe. It should be used everyday though any bleeding for 2-3 months, longer if symptoms are severe. As soon as progesterone becomes the dominant hormone and you feel stable enough, you can SLOWLY start to reduce the cream by 20mg at a time until you reach 100mg/3ml per day, this is the minimum amount of cream to be used, anything less and your symptoms will return. You can then start to following your cycle again. Progesterone should also be applied a minimum of twice per day as levels start to drop after 13 hours.

Another important thing to consider is Vitamin D, a deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone, please see here Do you know what your level is?

I hope that this will help you a little.

dosage?
by: Marie

Thank you. I am currently taking Arbonne's Prolief which contains 1/4tsp dosage pumps per application. It doesn't say what that equates to but I assume I am needing more. I also take 500IU of vitamin D per day am I needing more?

Hi Marie

I have just gone onto the Prolief website. I pump gives you 1/4 tsp with is 20mg. The is not nearly enough. Also Prolief contains 16mg progesterone per each gram which is not enough. You need a cream that contains 33.3mg progesterone per each gram. You also need to look at the cost comparison, see here
You are not taking enough Vitamin D. You should be taking nothing less than 5 000IU's per day. But I suggest you have a vitamin D test done to see what your level is as you might need to take 10 000iu's per day.

Hi Marie As JL says you are not using enough progesterone, or taking enough vitamin D. Please follow her advice. Take care Wray
